The beauty of Munnar

The natural beauty of Munnar is captivating to the senses.

Munnar town is in Kannan Devan Hills (KDH) Village in Devikulam taluk. Munnar means "three rivers" as it is at the confluence of the Madhurapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundaly rivers. It is situated 1600m above sea level and is the summer resort of the British Government during the colonial era. You can still see a few English country cottages in Munnar town...

Nature's paradise

Virgin forests, savannah, rolling hills, scenic valleys, numerous streams, huge splashy waterfalls, sprawling tea plantations and winding walkways offer a great holiday experience to the traveller. The town is known for vast expanses of tea plantations, colonial bungalows, rivulets, waterfalls and cool weather. Trekking and mountain biking are also favourite activities here.

Munnar is also known for Neelakurinji, a rare plant which flowers only once in twelve years.
The ‘kurinji season’ in Munnar is a magnificent sight when the hills and valleys get bathed in the blue of the Neelakurinji blooms.

Some of the must-see places in and around Munnar are Eravikulam National Park, Anamudi Peak, Mattupetty, Pallivasal, Chinnakanal, Anayirangal, Top Station and Tea Museum.
